Before beginning the search for great rates, everyone should know that a teenaged driver will not pay the same rates as an experienced driver. When anyone – including teenagers – begins driving, they are placed in the category known as high risk drivers. While it’s true that there are some responsible new drivers out there, the fact remains that they have no prior experience of driving on the road for a long period of time. As the driver continues to demonstrate safe driving, over time their cost of insurance will decrease. Their rates start high because the insurance company is quite sure they will make an error that will lead to a claim, and statistically, they are correct.

Most new drivers aren’t always aware of their surroundings or they don’t know how to maneuver the vehicle in a manner to avoid a collision. Sometimes they don’t see a stop sign or they think they can make the yellow light. When an insurer sees these statistics, they prevent their own losses by instantly charging those new drivers a very high premium to offset the possible claim that will need to be paid out.

Sure, it may not be fair that you are required to pay such a high price even though you are positive that your kid won’t be involved in any traffic incident, but that’s how life goes. Instead of throwing your own tantrum, find ways that you can get cheaper insurance rates for teens by reading on.

Limit Vehicle Usage
When you’ve applied for car insurance in the past, have you noticed you tell the insurer how many miles you drive each year? Insurers use this number as an estimation to predict how often the car is on the road, and the less often it’s out there, the smaller the chance of it being involved in an accident. Drivers who drive less will pay less for their insurance.

Set home rules about the mileage, when they can drive, and where they can drive. Giving the teen a weekly mileage limit may help them budget their use of the car better and eliminate unnecessary time behind the wheel. Some parents may find it useful to only allow a teen driver to drive the car from sun up to sun down. Night driving is more dangerous anyway, and it will give the new driver time to gain experience before they are allowed to drive at night. Combining these rules may also help the driver limit where they go, too. Traveling to work and school are necessary, but perhaps the weekend drive into the city isn’t necessary and poses a threat to their fresh driving record.

Keep an Unspotted Record
Explain over and over again that this is the time to learn of the importance of avoiding traffic violations. It is always detrimental to one’s record to receive a ticket or be involved in an accident, but it is even more so when the driver is new and young. Policyholders will be shocked (and probably furious) when they see the drastic increase in the already high premium price if this occurs. As mentioned above, limiting the driver’s usage of the car will help decrease the chance of a traffic incident, but it’s also important to avoid these situations altogether.

On average, tickets and accidents remain on driving histories for years. There is always a probation period after involvement of one of these where obtaining another incident will only make things worse. A ticket can usually be “erased” or not even placed on the record if the driver attends traffic school. If traffic school isn’t attended or is not an option, points will be assigned to the driver’s record according to the seriousness of the violation. It’s better for the insurance premium to avoid these points since they as a whole show a lack in safe driving and will only negatively affect your relationship with your insurer.

Be a Good Student
Young drivers need to get good grades not only for future scholarships, but also so they can be eligible for a popular car insurance discount often referred to as the good student discount. Students can qualify for this discount when they show their most recent report card as earning a “B” average or better. Each insurer may have different grade point average requirements, so check with the individual carrier to do what’s necessary to earn this discount. Also, the term “student” may either be applied to high school students or college students, or both depending on your insurer.

Why would good grades give a discount? Interestingly enough, insurers have found that students who perform well in stressful situations, such as taking tests in school, also perform well on the road and demonstrate a better ability to drive safely while avoiding traffic incidents. Not all good students are good drivers, but as a collective group they are.

Shop Around
Another great way to find cheap car insurance for teens is by shopping around and comparing the rates each company provides. Assuming the current carrier is the best and cheapest isn’t always the best route to take. In using our comparison tool, you can get a number of quotes from reputable insurers by filling out only one questionnaire. Compare your findings to your current insurer and see which one would benefit you more. It may be worth a few minutes of your time, especially as you add another driver to your policy.

Getting great rates for your teen isn’t complicated as long as you work with him/her to help them understand how important it is to be a safe and smart driver. Their safety and intelligence will be reflected in the cost of their insurance for years to come.

How do you know which auto insurance coverage you really need? You have to wonder when agents contact you saying you need more if it’s because you do, in fact, need more coverage to protect your assets, or if they’re contacting you because they need to make more commission off of you. Having this thought hanging over your head can make it confusing to really know what you need and what options can be omitted. We’ll go through the popular recommended auto coverage given from every company and explain situations where it would benefit the policyholder.

Property Damage and Bodily Injury Liability
These coverage options aren’t really optional; they’re required by law in most states. Each state requires a minimum amount to be carried in each of these, so be sure to check with your state to know how much you should have. Both of these options are in place to provide a way for you to pay for any physical damage you do to a person or their property. This pays for their medical bills up to the purchased amount for an individual, and then it also pays those bills up to the amount purchased for injuries of the entire accident combined. Another amount that you purchased, for property damage, will pay for the damage that you or any member of your policy causes to anyone’s property. This could be a traffic light, someone’s fence, or their car. It does not cover your own body and property damage. This coverage is ideal for anyone who is in a minor accident and winds up not damaging their own car or causing major damage to the other property.

This coverage is ideal for anyone who is in a minor accident and winds up not damaging their own car or causing major damage to the other property.

Comprehensive and Collision
This protection will cover damages done to your insured vehicle, unlike the above mentioned property damage coverage, regardless of who was at fault for causing it. Damages done to your vehicle from a baseball, the wind, or even vandalism will be paid for by the insurer when you have this as part of your policy. Your vehicle will also be replaced if it is stolen or totaled, up to the its cash value amount. As a side note, anyone who is upside down on their auto loan will want to look into GAP insurance as it will cover the difference between the amount owed and the cash value of the vehicle if it needs to be replaced by the insurer.

Comprehensive and collision are not required by any state, but they are required if you have an auto loan or are leasing your vehicle. The loan and lease owners demand that you have these coverage plans on your policy so the vehicle will be taken care of properly. The auto loan will not be approved if you refuse to carry them on your policy.

The time think about not carrying comprehensive and collision is when your vehicle no longer has a worthy cash value. It may end up that you pay more to carry these insurances than what you would get back.

Uninsured/Underinsured Liability
Some states require one of these coverage types, so be sure you know if your state demands it or not. Uninsured/underinsured liability is just as it sounds; it gives you protection from uninsured drivers or drivers who don’t carry enough car insurance. If you happen to be involved in an accident and the other driver, who is found to be at-fault of the accident, does not have adequate or any insurance to pay for the damages they’ve caused, your insurance policy will go into affect and pay for your medical bills and property repair, but only after your deductible has been met.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
PIP is required in states that follow a no-fault law (everyone pays for their own accident-related damages, regardless of who was at fault). This coverage is similar to health insurance coverage. It will pay for your medical bills, including the bills of your passengers, up to the amount you have purchased. Drivers hosting a carpool on a regular basis will want to consider purchasing this option as it will help the passengers if involved in an accident and decrease the chances of them suing you for damages. PIP can be used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or on its own at most healthcare facilities. Pip also pays for lost wages while you are recuperating and healing from the accident wounds. Also, it will cover any pedestrians you hit and cover funeral expenses, up to the purchased amount.

Medical Payment
Medical payment is similar to PIP, but only covers the medical bills and not lost wages, pedestrians you hit, or any of the other list we mentioned. It is also similar to a formal health insurance policy and can be used in place of or in addition to one. It can be used to pay co-pays at healthcare facilities as well.

How to Combine Them for the Best Results
The best way to figure out what your needs are would be to imagine yourself or a family/policy member going through the experience of both a minor and major accident. As devastating as this may feel, it’s important to know for sure that you’ve got the best coverage possible. You wouldn’t want to discover some form of coverage is missing right when you needed it, which is too late to purchase it.

Accidents sometimes involve only damaging another person’s property, and sometimes it includes damage done to both parties. They can also inflict minor injuries to both parties, or one driver could walk away from the accident without a scratch while the other driver is taken to the hospital with multiple bumps, bruises, and breaks. Take these scenarios into consideration when deciding whether or not to carry certain coverages. Also, how much money do you have sitting aside for emergencies such as these? If you don’t have a lot, purchasing more insurance may be wise for you to help offset your out-of-pocket expenses.

During this traumatic time, wouldn’t it be helpful to know that your auto insurance company is going to help with the bills? Planning for the unknown by purchasing recommended car insurance coverage will help alleviate worrying in the future.

You can still get a great policy at an inexpensive price. It will just take some know-how and a few minutes.

The first step is to use the tool that we provide. It’s a great tool, and no one should search for a new car insurance policy without using it. “What is it? What does this great tool accomplish?” Glad you asked. Our tool will give you the ability to compare a number of quotes provided by different carriers by filling out one easy survey. The survey really is easy and quick because all of it revolves around you, the driver, and the car you wish to insure.

It starts when you enter in your local zip code in the appropriate box on our page. From there, you will need to provide accurate information as we ask things like age, gender, driving history, home residence, and details about your vehicle such as the year, make, model, and estimated miles driven. All of this information will help determine the rates you will pay and the quotes that will be given to you. The tool we provide is operated by a third party company that has developed a good standing relationship with insurers. They are able to make sure each customer gets the lowest price possible to insure their vehicle.

When you have finished entering in your information on our survey, you will then be provided with a list of at least four quotes from reputable companies. The companies are all local, and if you haven’t heard of them before we suggest doing some research on all of the companies that have provided you with quotes. We have more information within our site on how to research these companies, but we’ll go over it quickly here.

Knowing what you want from your insurer is important. If you don’t know what you want, you could wind up with something you don’t like, even though you’re using the cheapest insurance company. Think about things like customer service and how the company allows their agents to perform. Are they understaffed? Do you wait on the phone forever while trying to get information? Do the representatives have manners and treat you with respect? Also, the ability a company has to pay out claims should be considered. How long will they be around? How many days will it take them to pay for the accident? Are they having financial problems? These are only a few ideas to contemplate when choosing your company.

There are a few third party, non-biased companies who evaluate the performance of car insurance companies. They all have Websites that are easily accessed where consumers can find out more about the company in questions. JP Power reviews the insurer’s policy offerings, pricing, billing and payment, the ease of contacting the insurer, and other consumer’s overall experience in working with the company. Each category can receive up to five marks (five being the best). AM Best is another company that evaluates insurance companies, but they focus more on the financial status of the company. They give out grades — much like schools do — to each company. Any company with a rating of a “B+” or higher is considered “Secure” while anything lower deems it to be “Vulnerable.” This research can help when choosing between two or more companies who are offering the same (or close to) prices for a policy.

You might wonder why insurers charge different rates for the same policy. There are a few explanations that we will share with you. You must understand first that insurers only make a profit when they have more money coming into the company than going out. They pay all of their bills, claims, and their employees and then must have something remaining to be considered profitable. If a company begins to pay out more claims than usual and the amount they are paying has increased, they need to offset this by charging their customers more to increase the money coming in. This helps them continue to make a profit despite the higher number of claims filed and paid. The opposite is true as well; when companies aren’t paying out a high number of claims they can afford to keep their rates low for their customers.

Insurance providers also change the rates of their customers individually depending on their most recent policy period. If the driver has demonstrated a lack in safe driving by receiving tickets, accidents, or points on their record, their insurance premium will increase. Any time a driver files a claim, their insurance will definitely increase because the amount of profit the insurer has made has decreased compared to if the driver had not filed a claim. Remember, the company needs to have more money coming in than going out. A customer’s rates will stay the same or slightly decrease when they have demonstrated safe driving within the previous policy periods by not filing any claims or gaining any points on their record.

Also keep in mind that the price of your policy is determined by how much coverage you purchase. Automobile insurance companies will usually offer a variety of choices, but make sure you are getting the exact coverage you want. Compare the policy you desire among a number of companies to find the cheapest insurance company that will suit you best and don’t rely only on the cheapest policy price you find. You’ll want to make sure that in the time of an accident you have the best coverage possible that you can afford.

Again, we offer our comparison tool to everyone at no charge, and there is no obligation to purchase any of the policies either. However, if you find the policy that’s perfect for you, we do invite you to purchase it instantly online. We make finding cheap auto insurance companies easy so anyone can find them and make the most of their savings.

It can be expensive to insure any driver, but it’s even more costly to insure a 16-year old. This group of young drivers lacks the experience needed to be considered a good driver and receive cheaper insurance. They have spent minimal time on the road and haven’t fully demonstrated they know of the best ways to stay safe. Often, it is young drivers who forget the basic laws and rules of driving resulting in accidents or the receiving of tickets. Car insurance companies plan on this and statistics prove it to be true, which is why they feel the need to charge outrageously high rates to 16-year olds. Unfortunately, there’s not much even the most responsible 16-year old can do to prevent this classification, but only at first.

Car insurance rates for a 16 yr old can gradually decrease as the teenager learns how to show their level of responsibility more effectively. The less risk that driver shows, the lower their rates will be. It’s not an instant process and will probably take a few years to prove, but it’s worth the effort. Over time their safety will show, especially as the years increase without any signs of traffic incidents. By utilizing their “safety skills” they could keep a clean record all the way through college and see a huge decrease in their premium from when they started driving. We have some ideas that can be used by any 16 year old driver to better their situation and work towards lowering their rates.

We have some ideas that can be used by any 16 year old driver to better their situation and work towards lowering their rates.

Determining Their Rates
The rates for a 16 year old are determined in the same manner as anyone else’s rates are figured out. Information about the driver and their vehicle are evaluated with considerations about how often they will make future claims. If the driver is deemed insurable, a representative will extend an invitation by providing the premium price or estimate of how much a policy will cost for a given time period. The policy periods usually run 6 months or 12 months, depending on the company’s terms. Some specific factors are the driver’s name, age, gender, birth date, and address. The vehicle information needed would include the year, make, and model of the car, its annual mileage, and how the car is used (e.g. taken to work, driven to school). Have these things available before you apply for insurance for a faster submission process.

The final factor that will affect the rates is the amount of coverage purchased. Obviously, the rates will be cheapest when minimal coverage is bought, but that may not be the best choice for your teen. While it is mandatory that all drivers carry basic liability, full coverage will help prevent paying even more out of pocket expenses when there’s an accident. There may be a time when Comprehensive and Collision are not needed, for example when the car has little cash value and it would cost more to pay for that added coverage than it would be to replace the vehicle. Not every 16 year old drives a brand new, fancy vehicle so not every option is needed. Medical assistance through Personal Injury Protection or Medical Payment should be considered for the teen, especially if he/she does not have adequate health insurance.

Ways to Keep Insurance Cheap
There are a few things the teen can do to keep their insurance rates down. First, and probably the most important, don’t get involved in accidents and avoid traffic tickets on your record. If the teen knows of the importance of driving safely and keeping their record clean from any tickets and accidents, they will be working towards getting cheaper rates quicker than if they didn’t care and got points on their record.

A second way to keep 16 year old driver insurance cheap is by driving safe. It sounds apparent, but sometimes common sense gets thrown out the window when they’re behind the wheel. Having a driver’s license does have its perks on a high school campus, but it can also lead to not obeying traffic laws to appear “cool” and gain friendships. Speeding through the streets with the radio blaring makes it difficult to see and hear small children when they play on the sidewalks. Talking or texting on a cell phone while maneuvering through traffic directs attention to the conversation instead of the surrounding traffic. Think twice before making a decision that could contribute to a traffic ticket or cause an accident.

Another option that should be discussed between the policyholder and the 16 year old is how the insurance will be paid. It can be split between the two parties or the teen could pay its entirety. There are two advantages to this approach. One, the policyholder saves money. Two, the teen learns about responsibility even more so knowing that this is a privilege they are paying for. This might help them think twice about driving safely since they’ll be the ones to pay for any price hike in rates due to getting a ticket or accident.

One final suggestion would be to limit the usage of their vehicle. Some states require that new drivers only drive on the road when the sun is up. As soon as the sun sets, those drivers are not to be behind any wheel. Pleasure driving might be limited if there’s really no destination involved to avoid unnecessary traffic incidents. Allowing the 16 year old to drive to and from school and/or work could lower those incidents as well.

Finding auto insurance for 16 year old drivers can prove to be a time of mixed emotions. Your child is growing up and gaining more responsibility as an adult. If the teen wants the opportunity to have a license, it should be granted unless they have demonstrated ill behavior. When insurance isn’t affordable, consider looking into discounts offered by your insurer or ask the teen to help with the cost. It is possible for most teenagers to afford driving. Use our resources to help further the process along.

Car insurance pricing is determined on a number of factors, including the driver’s record, place of residence, and the vehicle driven. It’s not hard to understand that people who drive recklessly are charged higher premiums than a person with a clean record, but it’s almost considered unfair that people who live in dangerous areas are charged higher premiums even when their record is spotless. Some drivers don’t have a real choice concerning where they live and may only be able to afford living in a high crime area. Law makers have tried to help these citizens by creating the Low Cost Auto Insurance Program that safe drivers can take advantage of and use it to purchase insurance.

Safe and responsible drivers who cannot afford the current price of car insurance, despite any discounts offered, should not be left to fend for themselves and drive without coverage. If they are in fact a safe driver, the chances of their involvement in an accident are slim, but there is a higher chance that their vehicle may be vandalized or stolen in their “high-crime” neighborhood, which is something the insurer would end up paying for. Law makers have imposed this program in California to help all drivers have proper coverage, which forces companies to offer a certain number of drivers this program.

Who Can Participate?
According to the California’s Department of Insurance Website, all applicants must be at least 19 years old, and any college students must not be claimed as a dependent by someone else. They must have had a driver’s license for the past three years continuously. The driver must be classified as a “good driver,” which means they cannot have more than one point on their record and have only been at-fault in one accident, both within the last three years. Also, they cannot have any felony or misdemeanor conviction on their record either.

The driver’s income also plays a role in determining whether or not someone is qualified to participate in the low cost auto insurance program. The number of people in the household, related by blood, marriage or adoption, compared to the amount of income made during the year is crucial to being permitted into the program. For instance, households of 4 people can make no more than $55,125 a year, and households with 8 people cannot make more than $92,525 a year to qualify. The Department of Insurance site says, “Eligibility is based on the household’s gross annual income which must be 250% or less of the federal poverty level.”

What Is The Coverage?
The limits on this program’s policy is $10,000 for bodily injury liability per person with $20,000 per accident, and $3,000 for property damage liability, also abbreviated as 10/20/3. The normal minimum amount of insurance for a California driver is 15/30/5. There are additional coverage options that can be added to the policy such as medical payments with a maximum of $1,000, and uninsured motorist bodily injury per person of $10,000 and per accident of $20,000. These options do not cover any physical damage to the driver’s own vehicle, but there is an option to purchase comprehensive and collision coverage if so desired, and if the driver can afford it.

What Companies Offer It?
As mentioned earlier, providers are mandated by the state to offer this protection. The driver cannot choose which company will provide this insurance. An application is filled out by the driver, who will then be notified if he/she qualifies. Upon qualification, the driver then enters in their zip code to get a list of “certified producers” who must then be contacted to apply for a policy. Thankfully, no fees will be added on to the price of the policy, such as booking fees or broker fees.

Are There Other Limitations?
The driver must only have the vehicles covered by the Low Cost program, and no other policies. If the driver has another vehicle in the household that is insured by another company on a non-Low Cost policy, the driver will no longer be qualified for this program. Also, the vehicle that is insured through this policy can only be valued at $20,000 or less. A more expensive car is not allowed on this program.

Not Eligible?
For those drivers who discover they are not eligible for this program, rest assured you can still find better rates by using our comparison method and searching for other discounts. When you give us your zip code and answer a short list of questions, we, in return, can provide to you a list of local insurers who are willing to provide insurance to you and their estimated prices to do so. These prices are based on the answers to the questions you gave. If these quotes are still not low enough, check out what discounts you are eligible to receive. Students can get cheaper rates if they get good grades, and senior citizens, usually older than 65, can also get discounts. Defensive driving courses can be taken to learn better driving skills while also earning a discount. Even if your insurance rate isn’t as low as you’d like it to be, you can get it lower with each policy renewal as you work on cleaning up your driving record and looking for discounts.

Low Cost Auto Insurance programs are helpful to all drivers as it keeps the number of uninsured drivers lower than without the program. Find out if you qualify today.

The main reason to get a list of multiple insurance quotes free is to have a better idea about which companies are offering the best rates. Your premium may have been declining over the years due to your great driving record, but are you sure you’re paying the cheapest possible price for the coverage you’ve purchased? You can’t be sure unless you look around at what the other companies are charging other drivers with your history.

How to Get Your Free Quotes
While other sites charge to permit you to see their quotes, we only ask for some basic information in exchange for the quotes. This information is in the form of a list of questions about the vehicle and person needing coverage. We use this information to determine the estimated cost of the premium. The given information will give a better idea about the level of risk of the driver. A higher level of risk, or the chance that driver will be filing a claim because damage was done to the vehicle, the higher the premiums will be. The answers given will need to be accurate so that when the quote is shown, it too is an accurate estimate. If the provider finds out the answers were false, the quote will no longer be held valid.

Once your answers have been submitted, you will be given a list of quotes. At least four local (which can include nationwide companies too) automobile insurance companies will provide free insurance quotes online or estimate of what it would cost to purchase their insurance based on the information you’ve given and the type of coverage you would want to purchase. To see how you can utilize your quotes, read on.

What to Do With Your Quotes
Now that you have your list of prices offered by other companies, it would probably be wise to look into the companies that are providing these quotes to find out a little more about them. Sure, Company A may be offering you the lowest price, but how is their customer service or their options for coverage? By doing a little research on the companies, you may save yourself a future headache in knowing more.

Once all of your comparison shopping is complete and you’ve chosen the policy that suits you best, you can purchase it instantly online. There are no added fees or hidden charges to do so. If you have any questions prior to purchase, you can contact one of our agents at (800) 527-7225 and they will be happy to provide any assistance possible. You will need your credit card to purchase the policy, as well as your social security number and/or driver’s license number. We don’t require these numbers during the quote process, but you will need to provide them to verify who you are at the time of purchase. For some companies, once purchase is complete, a proof of insurance card may be printed from your home computer and printer for your use. Some drivers may see this as a benefit if they are looking to get proof fast to reinstate a driver’s license or vehicle registration that has been suspended due to previously not carrying coverage.

Ways to Reduce Your Cost of Insurance
If you’re looking to compare quotes to get a better price and are disappointed because there’s only a few dollars difference between your current price and the quoted prices, know that there is more you can do to further reduce your expense. Ask the insurance carrier about discounts they offer that will lead you to lower prices. All discount programs are based around showing an increased level of responsibility on the driver’s part. For instance, one discount is primarily intended for students — both high school and college aged students. When students can maintain a higher grade point average of a “B” or better, their premiums are less than students who cannot maintain that GPA. Most insurers believe that these students with higher GPAs have a better ability to think clearly while in stressful situations, i.e. while taking an exam or while on the road, and they are willing to reward those students.

Another type of discount is offered when drivers take certain driving courses. One driving course, known as a defensive driving course, teaches drivers how to better maneuver their vehicle while on the road in a manner that will help prevent accidents. By taking and passing this class, the discount is effective for up to three years, depending on the terms stated by your insurer and will help keep your price low.

Other discounts are offered by most insurers too. There are discounts that relate to your safe driving record and others pertaining to the type of safety features on your vehicle. If you insure more than one vehicle with the same company you should be given a discount, and Senior Citizens over the age of 65 can qualify for a discount. Don’t be afraid to ask about all of the discounts that are offered by your insurer. You’re bound to qualify for at least one, if not two discounts to save you more money on your premium.

It’s nice to get something for free, but it’s even better when that something can provide a way to save money. Our quotes are not only free for everyone, but they are an opportunity for you to save money on an expensive bill. Use our quote method even if you’re just the slightest bit curious about how your rates compare to what else is available.

The top 10 carriers will be given the highest ranks in many categories, not just one. And, there isn’t just one top insurance company. Because there are millions of consumers, there are millions of opinions. Not everyone shares the liking of the same companies, nor do they agree with one another about who is the best. This is why it’s important to look at a number of companies instead of just comparing two to each other.

What is there to compare? Simply speaking, price, customer service, and financial stability or the ability to pay out a claim are the basic minimum of what should be on the comparison list. Top 10 companies should all have positive marks when it comes to these important factors, and if a company you are considering doesn’t compare well, it should probably be scratched off of the list. We’ll go into a little more detail about what you should look for in these factors to get a complete comparison and wind up with a top company.

Price
Everyone is worried about saving money, which makes the premium price come to be the most popular factor when choosing an insurer. Even when it’s only a few dollars of savings each month, people switch companies to ensure they’re getting the best price possible. The only way to know you’re getting the cheapest price on the market is by doing a price comparison. We can give drivers a list of quotes from at least four companies when they fill out our easy questionnaire. These questions are quick and painless as they review information about the driver and the vehicle that needs insurance. The questionnaire begins by entering in the local zip code in the appropriate box on the Webpage.

However great a premium price may be, it’s important to also look at the rest of the company. They may have low prices because their customer service is horrible and they’re losing customers. Their low price may be an effort to get new customers to make up for the number of lost customers. On the opposite hand, their prices may be low because they have so many customers they can afford to give such prices and it’s completely legit. But you won’t know the reasoning until you further your searching.

Customer Service
If you don’t care about how a company treats you, you should really reconsider your thought process. Sure, it may be that there really isn’t any reason why you would need to speak with any representative of the insurance company because all of your questions can be answered on their Website, or because you can file any type of claim online, and on top of that you can pay your bill online instantly. That is a great thought and an added bonus if you really can do these things without the need for speaking to a representative or agent.

Nevertheless, there are unforeseen times when something occurs that will require you to speak with someone. For instance, if you have record of paying your bill but the insurer says you never paid it, you’d want to speak with someone right away instead of waiting for a response in your email. The same would hold true if you accidentally forgot to pay your bill and your policy was about to be terminated. Most people would want to pick up the phone and talk directly to a person to get the situation straightened out and avoid any cancellation of policy.

Customer service should be taken seriously by the company you’re working with. They should always be polite (and so should you as the customer) and know a great deal about the company they work for and the policy you have. It may not be conducive to someone’s schedule to contact every car insurance carrier to find out how they do over the phone, so sites like JD Power and the Better Business Bureau should be used to see how the company was rated by a third party. You can also check with your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles to see if anyone has complained about local insurers. Other Websites like MSN.com and Businessweek.com will occasionally post their findings on the customer service departments of different companies.

Financial Stability
It is imperative that you find out about the company’s financial status. Why? Think about the monthly payments you make to insure your vehicle. Something happens to you vehicle and you need to file a claim. The problem is, the company no longer has the funds to pay for your claim, and they go out of business, leaving you to pay for the damages yourself. That would be very misfortunate, but it can be avoided by checking out sites like AM Best and Weiss Ratings. They provide ratings that tell consumers which providers are “secure” and which ones are “vulnerable” to going out of business due to lack of funds. Standard and Poor’s Website also has a list of ratings for consumers to use.

Again, there is more involved in finding the top rated insurance companies than drivers initially think. The ad campaigns are very inviting, but they don’t always give you the information you need to make an informed decision. If you don’t know where to start, we’ll once more suggest our quote comparison feature that is easy and free to use. At least you will have access to a list of local companies that you can use to begin your comparison.

Drivers who are worried they won’t be given any auto insurance due to their faulty driving history must know that eventually they will find a company who will agree to insure them and their vehicle. These drivers, known in the auto insurance world as high risk drivers, end up paying expensive premiums for their policies compared to the other drivers on the road. Insurers know they will wind up paying for more claims with high risk drivers, and in order to make a profit, they charge high risk drivers more. These drivers, known in the auto insurance world as high risk drivers, end up paying expensive premiums for their policies compared to the other drivers on the road. Insurers know they will wind up paying for more claims with high risk drivers, and in order to make a profit, they charge high risk drivers more. Members of the high risk category may experience frustration as they try to move on and establish a safer driving habit and cleaner record. This frustration can be avoided when drivers have a better understanding of what they need to do to improve their situation and get lower rates.

The following questions can be applicable to any driver, especially those who are looking for assistance in lowering their high risk drivers insurance.

Who Is Considered High Risk?
A high risk driver is one who is new to driving, usually a teenager or young adult, or a driver who has demonstrated a lack in safe driving by receiving a substantial number of traffic violations in a short period of time. Senior citizens are not as much of a threat because statistically they do not cause as many fatal accidents as a teenaged driver does. The risk of senior citizens increases around the age of 75 and dramatically more around age 80, but because these age groups do not drive as often as young, new drivers do, they do not pose as much of a threat.

Drivers who are convicted of driving under the influence or drunk driving are instantly categorized as a high risk driver with no previous warning. Many people who drive drunk once will probably do it again, and insurers aim to prevent this act by giving such a drastic punishment, in addition to what the law and courts will issue.

A combination of a fast car and a person with some traffic incidents (tickets and/or accidents) could get them the high risk label as well. As an FYI, automobile insurance companies assign all drivers with a level of risk, based on their driving record. The lower the risk, the more likely that driver will be offered insurance and at a low price, too. So, a driver with a past history of having involvement in an accident coupled with driving a fast car that has a potential to be involved in another accident will be given a higher risk level than someone who has a clean driving record driving a mini-van.

Another group of people who may find themselves in the high risk category are people who live in certain areas that are considered dangerous. These areas are ones where cars are often stolen, vandalized, or happen to be involved in more accidents than elsewhere. Although this has nothing to do with their ability to drive safely, it reflects the chance that the insurer will need to pay for repair or replacement of the vehicle.

What Is The Assigned Risk Program?
Drivers of almost every state are required to obtain and maintain an automobile insurance policy. Some drivers, due to their high risk status, cannot get this insurance because they are denied by too many carriers. Since the law is still in effect for them and driving is their necessary source of transportation, they must find a way to get insurance. The assigned risk program is when the state government assigns the driver to a company that must then provide that driver with auto insurance. Sometimes the insurance premium amount is decided by the state government, and sometimes it is decided by the insurance company.

The way to get insurance for high risk drivers is by applying for coverage and getting denied three times. Then the agent will have the driver fill out a different form, applying for high risk insurance, which will be sent to the state. If you are having troubles finding a company that will insure you, you can ask the state for a list of high risk providers, or ask them to contact your prior insurer (assuming you want to stay with them) and see if they can mandate that insurer to continue your coverage. This continuation would come with a high price though.

Auto insurance carriers reserve the right to refuse to provide their services to anyone whom they feel would be too expensive to insure. Remember, insurers make their money when customers pay their premiums but don’t file any claims. Then the insurer clearly makes money off of them.

What Are Some Ways To Lower My Risk Level?
Once placed in a high risk level category, it is hard to get out of it. It will take time and effort, but it will be worth it. As an added means of motivation to lower the risk level, the premium rates will decrease as well. Drivers can make an effort to drive safely and clean up their driving record. While there isn’t much one can do about erasing past tickets and accidents, they can do their best to avoid getting any in the future. This may include eliminating driving as much as possible and taking the bus, cab, or carpooling with another person. Any tickets recently received should be taken care of by taking the appropriate driver’s education class to prevent it from being placed on a permanent record. Pay any fines or old tickets so they’re not on the record either.

Basically the best way to lower a risk level is to do the opposite of what put you in the category. New drivers should work on their driving skills very cautiously so as to not be involved in tickets or accidents and wait for time to pass.

Don’t forget that even as a high risk driver, you should still compare rates to find out which company will give you the lowest price. While it may not seem obvious, you too can still save some money by comparison shopping and taking advantage of discount opportunities.

Saving money by finding inexpensive auto insurance is a priority in this day and age of a slow economy, and just about every driver wants to participate. Sadly, it’s a common thought that the “affordability” isn’t available and is more of a kept secret among friends. This is as much of a misconception as is believing the world is flat. There are plenty of opportunities for drivers to get their auto insurance at affordable rates; you just have to know how to do it.

Step by step guides to finding inexpensive rates are helpful, so that’s what we’ll provide to drivers today. While some of these steps may be easily thought of, others may be missed due to their simple nature. Below is our guide to help drivers find affordable car insurance during their quest.

Cheapest Company
This one is more of a trick question, because there isn’t just one car insurance company that offers cheap rates. The fact is, while companies may have somewhat comparable prices to one another, they offer different prices to different drivers based on their driving history and other personal information that is given to the insurer. This is why one customer should not expect to get the same low rates (or even high ones) as another customer. The low rates of another person can be used as a general guideline, but what really should be compared is the price currently being paid now to what could be paid in the future with a low rate offer.

Driving Record
A driving record dictates a large percentage of the final premium price. The number of traffic tickets and accidents on a person’s record has a direct affect on what the person will pay for auto insurance. It’s quite simple, really. A person who has more than just one or two traffic incidents on record will pay more than someone who doesn’t have any. Generally speaking, when involved in any type of traffic incident, the driver was choosing to ignore the law or wasn’t paying attention to their surroundings, and the end result was an accident or a ticket. This carelessness is frowned upon by insurers, and they will reward drivers who prove to be more careful with a clean driving record.

Personal Statistics
These personal statistics, or specific information about the driver needing insurance, also plays a part in determining the policy price. There’s really not much a person can do to change certain things about them, but it’s helpful to be aware of this factor when searching for affordable automobile insurance companies. First is the driver’s gender; males typically pay more for insurance than females do because statistically they are involved in more traffic incidents. Age also plays a huge role with insurance price. The younger the driver, the more inexperienced they are and costly they are to insure. Affordable car insurance for teens does exist, but only when the teen has demonstrated responsibility by obeying laws and earning good grades. Another factoid is married drivers pay less for auto insurance than their single peers. It is thought that married folks exercise more caution while driving with their loved ones present than a single person who would usually be alone in the vehicle. Most of the information that makes a driver who they are will be factored into their policy price.

How to Complete a Rate Comparison
Now that you know about “cheapest companies” and how personal information dictates the price of automobile insurance, it is time to give instruction on how to complete a rate comparison. Comparing the rates that are offered by different companies will help consumers more quickly choose a policy. Most car insurance companies offer the same types of policies with relatively the same coverage options. However, many of them do not offer the same pricing. It’s true that the pricing may vary by only a few dollars, but you’ll be happier if to know you’ve chosen the absolute lowest price available, or a price that offers you better coverage than what you are currently carrying for a more affordable price.

First, it is important to give us your zip code so we might provide you with quotes from your local companies. Although most major companies are found nationwide, this will prevent giving information on a company that is not found in your area. Another reason a zip code is needed is to evaluate the crime rate of the town, because a higher crime rate will indicate a better chance of the car being stolen, which will lead to higher rates.

Second, you will need to complete a short questionnaire that will provide more details about yourself. In “Personal Statistics” we discussed this information will determine how much you pay for insurance. The answers to this questionnaire will need to be accurate and honest. If they are not, then the quotes you receive will also not be accurate and this will come into play when you go to purchase the policy.

Unlike many of our competitors, we do not require any social security numbers or driver’s license numbers to attain these quotes. We know the importance of protecting one’s identity, so we simply don’t need you to give us these numbers. We can give out these insurance estimates based on the information that is entered into the questionnaire. Although we don’t need those numbers for quotes, we will need them at the time of purchase to verify the personal information that was given. At this point in the process, if any information on the questionnaire does not match your driving history, your quotes and price will increase to match the new risk to insure you.

The most affordable car insurance is what you’ll find after you clean up your driving record and compare rates from a number of companies. It’s not impossible to get cheap prices if you put in the effort to get it. We can help you by providing a list of insurers and their prices so you can quickly make the best choice.

This hesitancy is completely understandable. With all of the identity theft that occurs daily, consumers do their best to protect themselves by keeping all personal information private, including those license and social numbers, bank account info and credit card numbers. There are many warnings out there from identity theft agencies and other law enforcement groups to keep this information secure and to not enter them into just any Website. Scam artists grow smarter and smarter and have mastered stealing from others, which is why it is so important to be careful with whom you give your information to.

We have taken all of these cautions and have found a way to provide quotes to the public — still free of charge — without the need for consumers to give us any of their private information. There is no need to provide a driver’s license number or a social security number to go through this process and get the needed quotes. There is other information that can’t be stolen or used against you that can be provided to receive accurate rate estimates. These can then be reviewed by the consumer and then purchased.

How can we so easily offer these insurance quotes without personal information? It’s quite simple, really. It begins with the residential zip code being typed in. This gives us your location, and we can then contact the carriers in your area and use companies that are applicable to you. There is then a list of questions that must be answered, and they must be answered honestly with accuracy. They are in regards to the person who needs coverage and the car that will be insured. The answers must be honest ones to ensure you are getting an accurate estimation because the answers to this questionnaire will dictate the given quote. If the answers are phony and you decide to purchase the policy, your rates will change when the agent realizes you’ve provided false information, most likely increasing in price.

Your rates revolve around your current circumstances. For instance, when you answer a question about the location of your vehicle at night, you are disclosing whether or not the car is parked safely in a locked facility or is left on the street. It doesn’t take much brain power to realize that the person with the car on the street at night is going to pay more for insurance than the owner of the car locked in the garage. Questions about you personally and your driving history affect your rates too. Someone who shows a pattern of constantly getting tickets or being involved in accidents will pay more for protection than someone without a spotted record.

As tempting as it may be to not answer the questions honestly to try and save a few bucks, don’t do it. You can be charged with insurance fraud, which isn’t something that will go over lightly. There are possibilities for fines in this case, and the carrier will not provide you with coverage. Because insurance fraud has become a popular nuisance that loses carriers’ money, they have really cracked down and have no tolerance for such actions.

Once you have finished answering the questions and have received your quotes, you can review them at your leisure. (It would also be wise to review the companies as well.) When you have chosen one because the price and company are right, you can proceed further by purchasing the policy online. Because you are buying a legitimate auto insurance policy, you will at this point need to give your driver’s license and social security number to make the purchase. The insurer needs this information to know for sure that you aren’t committing any fraudulent activity by claiming to be someone else. If you are nervous to provide this over the Internet, you are welcomed to use the phone number that is given on the quote page and speak to one of our helpful representatives.

There are benefits to getting auto insurance quotes with no personal information from our site. One, you will save time. So much time is wasted by calling each provider individually and asking each representative the same questions. In turn, they’ll all ask you the same questions; questions that are similar to the ones on our site. Even more time is saved if you use our site instead of traveling to the buildings of the individual insurance groups. Between the travel time and the time spent waiting to see a representative and then ask the questions (followed by the questions they would ask you) you could save an entire day’s worth of time by staying home and using the Internet.

Two, you will save money. You will save money on gas because you aren’t traveling; you will save money on cell phone minutes because you’re not calling; and you will save money on paper because you are not needing to take a bunch of notes since we provide the quotes side by side. The biggest way to save money here is by comparing the quotes and choosing the cheapest one.

Three, you can get your quotes without risking your personal information! It’s an obvious benefit, but it’s a reality. You don’t have to worry about your information getting into the wrong hands and instead you can focus on thinking about your savings from the cheaper premium that is being offered. What would you do with your savings?

It’s no joke that everyone wants to save money, and what better way to do it than saving on car insurance? Every little bit helps as it adds together in your checking account. Get your insurance quote without personal info today from OnlineAutoInsurance.com. We respect your privacy and will never sell or give away any of your information as we try to help you get a better deal.
