What someone else pays for insurance has no correlation to what you would pay. There are many personal factors used in calculating insurance premiums. Insurance is very expensive until you turn 25, then it goes down (assuming a good driving record).
Sounds about right. Car insurance will be expensive for you until you turn 25 however the older you get the insurance will go down a bit. Again you won’t see a major decrease until 25. However, you can try other insurance companies and see if they can offer cheaper insurance than what Farmer’s is offering.
That seems pretty high to me, even given that you are only 21 and a brand new driver with no strikes against you (e.g. tickets). Go on the internet and get several quotes. Esurance.com is a good place to start.
sounds like alot what kind of car you drive any tickets or at fault accidents bad credit history already or good an what state are you in? some advise if you have a newer car buy a commuter
abigail B, I recommend an online insurance quote. It’s free and quick to do.
Good Luck!
For auto insurance the quick way to get a good rate is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make certain that you compare similar policies with the same limits, car model, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.
What I always recommend is an internet comparison quote at since they have big name insurers and can give multiple prices on car insurance polices.
Hey Abigail,
$2600 is outragous!!! There is a company out of Texas that covers many states. They give discounts for staying in school and don’t penalize you just because your young. I used them when I was going to Texas Tech.
Full coverage should be $299 for 6 months of coverage. NOT $299 every month! That is based on you staying in school.
Hope this helps. See my source below.
It seems a not easy cracking nut, look around here ,you should find something helpful.
I hope my suggestion could be helpful. And here is resource that I am used to use.Check it out.
Samantha is right. Landa would be a lot cheaper.
I don’t know how much but $2600 is just CRAZY.
I hate to here they quoted you that much. I really like Farmers Insurance.
Good luck in your search.
It all depends on your personal history. If you have no tickets or accidents and good credit, then yes, $2600 for 6 months in unusually high. Here’s an article (link) that tells you how to save on car insurance:
That’s pretty expensive, but probably par for the course for young drivers and first-time car owners.
Also, a good place to check is…
Best of luck to you.
